An Oasis for children in need
£500 raised for local childcare charity

A Cobham charity that offers support to vulnerable children and their families, has received £500 raised by Housing Trust staff. The money will help the Oasis Childcare Centre fund day trips throughout the summer holidays for children and their parents or carers. Caroline Edwards who set up Oasis in 1996 said: 'We rely on the help of local people to survive, allowing us to help hundreds of children and are very grateful to Elmbridge Housing Trust for their support. This money will go towards our summer scheme, where children and their families or carers enjoy weekly trips to the zoo, the beach or country parks. The trips are really successful with over 50 people usually coming along on each day out."

Oasis Childcare Centre in Cobham provides a family centre, a family support service and crisis intervention service. With the motto 'Taking away the pain' Oasis offers a support service for children with problems and believes that every child has a right to security, love and a stable environment in which they can develop their full potential. Peter Morton, Chief Executive of Elmbridge Housing Trust, said: "We don't just provide housing - our aim is to help improve the quality of life of people in the areas we serve. Oasis provides vital support to many people and plays an important role in the local community. We're more than happy to help."
