LUCKY youngsters - and a few older ones too, saw their dreams come true this week after getting a surprise invite to a private meeting with chart toppers Westlife.

The UK's biggest selling boy band took time out of their schedule to meet children from around the area as part of a special event organised by Elmbridge's resident PR guru, Max Clifford.

Max, who runs public relations for the Irish pin-ups, arranged for the children to meet the lads after watching a Cobham mum bid £1,000 for the privilege at last week's Christmas Extravaganza.

Max was so touched by Vivienne Selier's determination to win the one-in-a-million meeting for her daughter, Jessica, that he promptly opened up the event to another nine people. Accompanying Vivienne and Jessica were pupils from Rydens School, Hersham as well as youngsters from the OASIS Childcare charity.

Oasis organiser Caroline Edwards said "it was marvellous. I would like to extend my very sincere gratitude to Westlife and Max Clifford for giving such a wonderful experience for the children - it's made their Christmas so very special."

The meeting took place at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton, where Westlife were visiting sick children.
